Ecatepec and 11 Municipalities to Host Safe Public Viewings for Mexico vs. England World Cup Match

Ecatepec, along with eleven other municipalities in the State of Mexico's Eastern Zone, is preparing to host public viewings of the Mexico vs. England World Cup match. Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss announced that municipal esplanades will feature screens, allowing residents to enjoy the Round of 16 game in a healthy and safe environment. This initiative aligns with a broader plan for the region, emphasizing community celebration and security.

"We are joining this great celebration, which we share with all of Mexico. We join the celebration with our dear head of government (Clara Brugada) and the president of the Republic, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, in an atmosphere of peace, tranquility, and joy, but all safe and secure," Cisneros Coss stated at a press conference in Mexico City. She highlighted that the event is a shared experience across Mexico, fostering a sense of national unity.

In Ecatepec specifically, ten public spaces will be designated for viewing the match. These include plazas in the nine towns, the municipal esplanade of San Cristóbal, and the Simón Bolívar roundabout in the Las Américas housing development. These locations will also host cultural, recreational, and leisure activities as part of the World Cup festivities.

To ensure the safety of attendees, Ecatepec will deploy over a thousand municipal police officers in more than 200 units, with support from the Navy's Task Force. Cisneros Coss expressed optimism that Mexico will advance to the quarterfinals. Neighboring municipalities like Nezahualcóyotl, Naucalpan, Chalco, Valle de Chalco, Chimalhuacán, Ixtapaluca, and Texcoco are also participating in the World Cup celebrations.
