Economic and Development Affairs Council says national economy is resilient and able to withstand challenges

Saudi Arabia’s Economic and Development Affairs Council described the national economy as resilient and capable of withstanding regional challenges during a videoconference meeting.

The council reviewed the quarterly report from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which covered major economic developments, growth prospects amid rapidly shifting geopolitical conditions, and opportunities to strengthen the economy’s competitiveness.

The report said annual inflation remained among the lowest in the world, holding at 1.8% for the third consecutive month in July 2026. The private-sector purchasing managers’ index also stayed in expansion for a fourth straight month, reaching 53.1 points.

The council reviewed a report from its Strategic Management Office on the performance of Vision 2030 realization programs and national strategies during the first quarter of 2026. The report highlighted progress toward the programs’ targets and qualitative achievements across Vision 2030’s three themes: a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation.
