Ecuador: Artists attacked on road; one dead, others injured

A group of artists and content creators from Chone faced a violent attack on the Salitre road near Arena Park in Samborondón early Saturday, August 1, 2026. The incident occurred as they were traveling in a high-end Cadillac SUV belonging to Kasterwey Network, shortly after attending a musical event.

The attack resulted in the death of Rider Endara, a member of the Kasterwey Network team. Several others were injured, including singer Ismael Alcívar, who remains hospitalized in serious condition, and content creator Arturo, known as "3 Patas." The group had been participating in "Despechados," an event paying tribute to Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez.

Kasterwey Music has requested authorities to investigate the attack thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. They have also highlighted the ongoing medical care for Ismael Alcívar, emphasizing his talent and popularity among the Ecuadorian public. Friends, family, and supporters have organized prayer chains for the recovery of those affected, expressing gratitude for the solidarity shown.

Specialized police units have launched an investigation, collecting evidence, reconstructing the vehicle's route, and reviewing security camera footage. Authorities aim to determine the motive behind the attack, the number of individuals involved, and whether any specific occupant was the intended target.
