Ecuador's President Noboa to visit China for talks with Xi Jinping

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, a center-right leader who emphasizes ties with the United States, is set to embark on his first state visit to China from August 16 to 23. During his trip, he will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The visit comes amid a broader trend of conservative governments gaining power in Latin America. China's Foreign Ministry announced the visit, stating that President Xi invited Noboa. The trip is seen as an opportunity for Xi to underscore the importance of cooperation between China and Latin American nations, particularly as the U.S. seeks to expand its influence in the region.

China views Ecuador as a significant country in Latin America and considers their relationship a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two nations have a decade-long history of this partnership. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of their leaders, China-Ecuador relations have shown a positive development trend. They have signed agreements for the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and a free trade agreement, leading to fruitful practical cooperation across various sectors and deepening friendly relations between their peoples.
