Ecuador to Face Ghana in Its First Women’s Under-20 World Cup

Ecuador will open its first Women’s Under-20 World Cup campaign against Ghana on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The match will begin at 11 a.m. at Arena Sosnowiec in Sosnowiec, Poland.

The Ecuadorian team has been drawn in Group C alongside Ghana, France and South Korea. Head coach Eduardo Moscoso has selected 21 players from several of the country’s leading clubs, along with two footballers based overseas.

Independiente del Valle supplies the largest contingent, with seven players. Liga de Quito and Universidad Católica each contribute five, while Barcelona SC has two representatives. The overseas players are goalkeeper Doménica Palacios of Brazil’s Flamengo and forward Doménica Arboleda of Italy’s AC Milan.

The squad also features forwards Mary Guerra of Independiente del Valle and Josenka Vélez of Liga de Quito. Ecuador’s other goalkeepers are Dayerlin Alcívar and Nayely Rodríguez. The defense includes Maite Zambrano, Rosa Estupiñán, Scarlet Garaicoa, Kathleen Mendoza, Aireen Mogro and Noemí Camacho.

The midfield group comprises Fiorella Pico, Evelyn Burgos, Abigail Villacís, Emily Vargas, Erika Saltos, Ros Flores and Maritxell Cázares. The remaining forwards are Dariana Morán and Xiomara Alcívar, alongside Arboleda, Guerra and Vélez.
