Ecuador to Host UAE Minister for Discussions on AI and Digital Transformation

Ecuador is set to host Omar Sultan Al Olama, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, for a high-level visit on August 3, 2026. The agenda centers on advancing bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovation, and digital transformation.

During his visit, Al Olama is scheduled to meet with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, Foreign Minister Roberto Kury, and other government officials. The Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the visit aims to bolster bilateral ties and explore new avenues for innovation between the two nations.

The discussions will span six key sectors: infrastructure, energy (including oil and gas), logistics, innovation and artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and investment security. Both countries aim to develop a common agenda within these areas, which are considered vital for expanding their strategic partnership.

While the visit is expected to foster dialogue on technology and investments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet specified whether any agreements or specific projects will be announced during the meetings. The focus remains on strengthening cooperation and identifying opportunities for mutual growth.
