Ecuador trains 3,000 environmental promoters to protect nature

Ecuador is bolstering its environmental protection efforts by training more than 3,000 citizens as environmental promoters. The "Ecosieaa – Mi Comunidad Verde" project, led by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, spanned 23 provinces from February to June 2026. This initiative aims to deepen environmental education and encourage citizen involvement across the nation.

This collaborative spirit has led to 24 letters of intent with strategic partners, the formation of 22 "Environmental Guardian" committees, and the execution of 163 participant-led initiatives.

Recent activities include the certification of 175 students as environmental promoters at the Aloasí Educational Unit in Pichincha province.
