"Lucid, benevolent, a thinker, at 102 years old he took his part in the protest against the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza," Mélenchon wrote on X, formerly Twitter. He added, "An example never dies."

In 2024, Morin, alongside other intellectuals like Annie Ernaux and Mona Chollet, had called on the French government to exert diplomatic pressure to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
