Edo governor urges APC leaders, members to unite for 2027 elections

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has called for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo Central Senatorial District, emphasizing collective effort to secure victory in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at an interactive meeting with stakeholders, party faithful, and support groups in Esan Central Local Government Area, Okpebholo stressed that cohesion is critical for the party's sustained growth and electoral success.

The meetings, held in Irrua, aimed to strengthen party cohesion, address members' concerns, and mobilize support for both the upcoming local government elections and the 2027 presidential election. Attendees included APC candidates for the local government polls and various support groups, such as the Esan Central Bike/Keke Riders Association and the Arewa community.

Okpebholo urged party members to set aside differences and work together for APC victories at all levels. "Politics is all about give and take," he stated, emphasizing the need for truth and mutual support. He expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu's administration, citing positive impacts of its policies and projects on Nigerians, and commended federal infrastructure interventions in Edo State, like the Ekpoma-Ehor road rehabilitation.

The governor also addressed the removal of the fuel subsidy as a difficult but necessary decision for national development. He promised support for transport operators and encouraged their involvement in achieving the APC's electoral goals. Additionally, he informed members of the Edo Women Ambassadors for Renewed Hope Agenda that Nigeria's First Lady would soon visit Edo to empower women with business support loans.
