Edo security outfit arrests 12 cultists in Benin crackdown

The Edo State Security Squad has apprehended 12 suspected cultists in Benin City during targeted raids on criminal dens. The operation, conducted in Uzebu Quarters, an area identified as a hotspot for drug trafficking and cultism, resulted in the arrest of the individuals at Asoro Hill.

Publicity Secretary for the Edo State Security Squad, Mr. George Aburime, announced the arrests following the Friday operation. He confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the police for further investigation and potential prosecution. Aburime emphasized the administration's commitment to combating crime, stating that Governor Monday Okpebholo's government will not tolerate any breaches of law and order.

In addition to the arrests, the security squad also intervened in a leadership dispute in Iyanomo community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, aiming to restore peace through dialogue.
