Edo senator backs crackdown on kidnappers, cultists

Senator Joseph Ikpea has voiced strong support for Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo's initiative to expedite the trial and punishment of kidnappers and cultists. Ikpea, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, praised the governor's recent actions against criminal groups operating in the state.

Governor Okpebholo’s prompt directive to the Edo police to fish out the perpetrators of the Vegetable Market kidnap incident, immediately after the Sunday incident in Benin City and the response of the police and other security agencies that led to the rescue of the kidnapped woman and the arrest of a member of the gang is highly commendable.

Specifically, Ikpea highlighted the successful rescue of a woman abducted from the Vegetable Market in Benin City and the subsequent arrest of a gang member. He noted the governor's commitment to ensuring security, including his stance on not facilitating special courts but rather ensuring swift justice and public execution for convicted individuals. The governor also offered a N10 million reward for the police operation.
