EFCC releases activists Randy Peter, Mama Pee after questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released activists Randy Peter and Mama Pee after they honored an invitation by the anti-graft agency in Abuja. The activists were set free shortly after midnight on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, following several hours of intense questioning.

My dear brother, @Peter4Nigeria, and my sister, @MamaPee__ were invited by the @officialEFCC. I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. It was a very long day.

Justice Crack, a colleague who accompanied the duo to the EFCC headquarters, confirmed the development on X. He stated that the activists spent approximately 11 hours at the commission's office before being allowed to leave. "They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, July 16, 2026. For now, everything is fine," Crack posted.

Concerns had initially mounted over the whereabouts of Peter and Mama Pee after Esther Umoh, a photographer associated with Peter Obi's 2023 presidential campaign, revealed on X that the activists had not yet been released several hours after honoring the EFCC's invitation. This prolonged meeting fueled speculation on social media that the activists might have been arrested.

They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026. For now, everything is fine.

However, Justice Crack later clarified that both activists had been released and were expected to return to the EFCC headquarters as directed. The EFCC has not yet publicly stated the specific reasons behind the invitation extended to Randy Peter and Mama Pee.
