Egypt opens appeals for ration card exclusions, outlines process

Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has officially reopened the window for appeals for citizens who have been excluded from the subsidized ration card system. The ministry emphasized its commitment to providing all opportunities for individuals who believe they are entitled to support.

Ahmed Kamal, the ministry's spokesperson, announced that the appeals process is ongoing without a set closing date. He noted that around 850,000 beneficiaries were removed from the system starting June 1, following the application of social justice criteria. Kamal stated that the number of appeals submitted so far is relatively low, not exceeding 1.5%, with approximately 5,000 appeals received since the process began on June 14.

The state is keen to provide all opportunities for anyone who believes they are entitled to the support they deserve.

To facilitate the process, the ministry has introduced two methods for updating data and submitting appeals. Citizens can utilize the Digital Egypt portal for free, 24/7 service, or visit designated post offices, which are operating extended hours, including Fridays and Saturdays. After updating their information, individuals must submit supporting documents to their local supply offices, where daily committees will review the applications. Those whose appeals are accepted will be notified via SMS.
