Egypt's Minya Governorate Inspects New Women's Cancer Center

Minya Governor Emad El-Din Awad inspected the Al-Anani Center for Early Detection and Treatment of Women's Cancers in Abu Qurqas, preparing it to enter service. This initiative supports the state's efforts to elevate healthcare standards and expand specialized medical services through partnerships with civil society organizations.

The inspection included reviewing the center's medical capabilities and specialized services for women in early detection, diagnosis, and treatment. The Al-Anani Foundation's vision for establishing a medical facility to combat cancer and raise awareness about early detection was presented. The center is designed to provide specialized healthcare within the governorate, reducing the need for residents to travel elsewhere.

Governor Awad described the Al-Anani Center as a significant addition to Minya's healthcare system, equipped to facilitate rapid diagnosis and treatment in a secure environment. He noted that expanding specialized medical centers aligns with the state's goal of improving healthcare quality and accessibility, paving the way for integration with the comprehensive health insurance system. The governor stressed the state's focus on women's health, recognizing women as central to family and society, and affirmed the governorate's support for initiatives targeting specialized health services, especially early cancer detection.

Dr. Hind Abdel Meguid, Executive Director of the Al-Anani Foundation for Human Development, explained that the center offers high-quality, affordable medical services. The project, a result of a cooperation protocol, is currently completing its second phase. The first two floors house outpatient clinics covering internal medicine, dentistry, and physical therapy, alongside a laboratory and other women's health specialties. The center has already begun receiving patients, staffed by specialists and professors from Minya University. The technical director, Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Abdel Aziz, highlighted the center's equipment, including a mammography machine for early breast cancer detection and an ultrasound device, alongside a planned laboratory and psychological support services for patients. The second phase includes observation rooms to ease pressure on hospitals and a planned pediatric clinic.
