Egypt's PM orders media development plan ahead of December conference

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has ordered the swift conversion of recommendations from a media development committee into an actionable executive plan. The directive emphasizes enhancing objective dialogue and cultivating informed public awareness regarding national issues.

It is very important that the title of our work during this period is 'How do we translate the recommendations that came out of the Media Development Committee, which the President previously commissioned and decided to form, into an executive action plan?'

Madbouly stressed the importance of translating the committee's proposals into a concrete work plan before a scheduled December conference. This initiative stems from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to overhaul Egypt's media system, aiming to foster a more informed citizenry.

The Minister of State for Information, Osama Heikal, presented the key axes for the December conference. These include the economic and financial aspects of media institutions, information accessibility, responsible free media, professional standards, and the conscientious coverage of national affairs such as the economy, foreign policy, national security, sports, and social issues.

The Ministry has finished studying the results and recommendations of the committee concerned with media development, in addition to developing a preliminary vision for the timelines and implementation mechanisms.

Khaled Abdelaziz, head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, noted the significant attention the state has given to media development in recent years. He highlighted discussions during the national dialogue that addressed these critical areas, underscoring the government's commitment to modernizing the Egyptian media landscape.
