Egyptian reports link Zamalek to coach Jamal Sellami

Egyptian sports media outlets are reporting that Zamalek SC has entered a new phase in their search for a coach for the upcoming season, with Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami emerging as a prominent candidate. The club's management has reportedly inquired about Sellami's salary expectations as they prepare to open official negotiations.

Sources indicate that Zamalek officials have begun sounding out the Moroccan coach regarding his financial demands following his departure from the Jordanian national team. Jordan was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers under his tenure. Zamalek aims to finalize the appointment of their new coach as soon as possible.

The Cairo-based club has reportedly shifted its focus to Sellami after negotiations with Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira stalled due to financial disagreements. Pereira subsequently signed a contract with Kuwait SC.

Jamal Sellami is considered a notable figure in Moroccan coaching circles. He previously led the Moroccan local national team to victory in the 2020 African Nations Championship. His coaching experience also includes managing several Moroccan clubs, such as Raja Casablanca, Difaâ El Jadidi, and Fath Union Sport. His tenure with the Jordanian national team marked a historic achievement, guiding them to their first-ever World Cup finals appearance. He departed the role immediately after their elimination, concluding a two-year stint.

Notably, Zamalek's traditional rivals, Al Ahly SC, recently appointed another Moroccan coach, Hoalid Regragui, for a two-year term.
