Egyptians compete in judo, table tennis, sailing at Mediterranean Games

Egypt's athletes are continuing their pursuit of medals on the ninth day of the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy. The Egyptian delegation is actively competing across multiple sports, including judo, amateur sliding, table tennis, and sailing.

In judo, Abd Elrahman Abd Elghani Mohamed will face Lebanon's champion in the round of 16. The amateur sliding event features duos Farida Wael Ahmed and Mariam Attia Abdel Latif in the qualifiers. Table tennis sees the men's team, including Omar Assar and Youssef Ahmed, competing against Spain in the semi-finals, while the women's team faces Serbia.

Egypt has already amassed a significant medal count of 29 medals, comprising 9 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze. This performance has positioned Egypt competitively among the leading nations and maintains its top standing among Arab countries.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Olympic Committee are providing ongoing support and monitoring for the athletes. Egypt boasts a rich history in the Mediterranean Games, holding the sixth position for most medals won overall, with a total of 620 medals, including 156 gold, 209 silver, and 255 bronze.
