Eid-el-Kabir: FG Declares Wednesday, Thursday Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

This declaration signifies the Federal Government's recognition and respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims who observe the festival alongside the global Islamic community. Minister Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to Muslim faithful both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.
