Eid-el-Kabir: FRSC mobilises patrol vehicles, deploys personnel in Niger, Jigawa

Ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched extensive operations in Niger and Jigawa states to ensure the safety and smooth passage of travelers. In Niger State, the command has deployed 600 personnel, supported by 12 patrol vehicles, a tow truck, and three ambulances. This special operation, commencing May 25th, will cover major highways across the state.

The deployment in Niger State is designed to facilitate free traffic flow, offer immediate rescue services, and improve overall road user safety before, during, and after the festive period. Sector Commander A'ishat Sa'adu emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property throughout the celebration. She advised motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid excessive speeding, and abstain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, stressing that compliance is key to reaching their destinations safely.

Similarly, the Jigawa State Command has mobilized 581 personnel, along with ambulances and patrol vehicles, for its Eid-el-Kabir special operation. The initiative, running from May 25th to May 31st, aims to manage the anticipated increase in human and vehicular movement during the festivities. The deployment includes 461 regular officers and 120 special marshals stationed at strategic points for effective monitoring and rescue operations.

According to Yahaya Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Jigawa command, the operation focuses on reducing road traffic crashes and easing congestion on major routes. The FRSC is intensifying public enlightenment campaigns and enforcing traffic regulations, targeting offenses such as speeding, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, route violations, overloading, mobile phone use while driving, and underage driving. Additionally, enforcement will cover seatbelt violations, child restraint non-compliance, passenger manifest irregularities, operating mechanically deficient vehicles, transporting passengers in trailers, and the illegal use of spy number plates.
