Eid-el-Maulud: Ex-Kaduna gov urges leaders to embrace justice, tolerance

Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, has called upon Nigerian leaders to adopt the exemplary virtues of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his commitment to justice, inclusivity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect. Makarfi conveyed this message in Kaduna while extending his greetings to Muslims and humanity on the occasion of the 1448 Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

As we rejoice and thank Allah (SWT) for the favour and blessings of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) birth and his subsequent mission, it is imperative that we are all reminded not to lose sight of the message that he conveyed to us.

Congratulating the Muslim Ummah, Makarfi described the Prophet's birth and mission as a pivotal moment in world history. He stressed that the annual celebration should transcend mere festivities, serving as an opportunity for introspection on the Prophet's teachings and exemplary life. "As we rejoice and thank Allah (SWT) for the favour and blessings of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) birth and his subsequent mission, it is imperative that we are all reminded not to lose sight of the message that he conveyed to us," Makarfi stated.

He urged Muslims to use the occasion for "sober reflections and deep introspection" regarding their conduct and adherence to Allah's commandments as revealed by the Prophet. Makarfi identified the core teachings of Prophet Muhammad as submission to Allah, peaceful coexistence, good neighborliness, universal brotherhood, humility, and selflessness. He emphasized that the Prophet's practical application of Islamic teachings, especially his leadership style, offers crucial lessons for leaders governing diverse societies like Nigeria.
