Eight policemen injured as terrorists ambush police team in Lakki Marwat

A coordinated terrorist attack in Pakistan's Lakki Marwat region has left at least eight police officers injured. The ambush took place in the Darga Saheedan area, falling under the jurisdiction of Khurrum Police Station in Karak district.

The incident occurred while a joint team of local police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) commandos was conducting a search-and-strike operation in the rugged, mountainous terrain. Terrorists reportedly opened fire from a hilltop using sophisticated weaponry, resulting in the injuries to the eight officers.

Authorities reported that the injured officers were promptly transported to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition. A police vehicle was also damaged during the assault. The district police chief, DPO Imran Khan, led reinforcements to the scene, and a "sanitization operation" is currently underway to locate and neutralize any remaining militants in the area.

Police spokesperson Shaukat Khan claimed that an intense exchange of fire led to casualties among the assailants, stating, "We have credible reports that several assailants were killed, and their accomplices injured." Security has been heightened across the district, with increased checks at entry and exit points.
