Ekiti monarch honours Oyebanji, Bamidele with chieftaincy titles

The Alaaye of Efon Kingdom, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare, has bestowed chieftaincy titles upon Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele. The monarch recognized their significant contributions to the development of the Efon community during the grand finale of the 43rd Efon Alaaye Day celebration.

All the honours and awards given either under the seal of Efon Alaaye Development League or by the Alaaye in form of chieftaincies and recent admission to the Efon Alaaye Hall of Fame and Roll of Honours represent the pinnacle of our Kingdom’s spirit.

Governor Oyebanji was honored with the title of Bashorun Ataiyese of Efon Kingdom, while Senator Bamidele received the title of Okanlomo Atunluse of Efon Kingdom. Oba Aladejare stated that these honors, along with others conferred by the Efon Alaaye Development League, signify that service and excellence are always remembered and celebrated in the kingdom.

The traditional ruler expressed his joy that Efon Day, which began as a thanksgiving service in 1984, has evolved into a celebration of culture and a time for reflection. He also acknowledged the substantial contributions, exceeding N100 million, made towards the Palace Renovation Project under Chief Patrick Akinboye Ojo's leadership.

They are designed to serve as a testament that in this land, service is never forgotten, excellence and dedication are always celebrated.

Other activities during the Efon Day included youth educational and sporting events, traditional games, a free medical outreach, a beauty pageant, and an awards ceremony. The President-General of the Efon Alaaye Development League, Olumuyiwa Aiyegbusi, urged indigenes to collaborate on the kingdom's development in areas such as governance, education, commerce, and industrialization. He also encouraged investors to explore Efon's potential for tourism, hotels, and holiday homes, citing its favorable climate, peaceful environment, and scenic mountain views.

The two new Efon Alaaye chiefs are to be formally adorned with their respective titles as situation permits soonest. Plans are also afoot to confer some eminent citizens with other prestigious honorary chieftaincies at the soonest convenient time.
