Ekrem İmamoğlu Sends Condolences for Şükran Soner

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the detained presidential candidate and mayor of Istanbul, issued a condolence message after Şükran Soner, a writer for Cumhuriyet, died at the hospital where she had been receiving treatment.

İmamoğlu said Soner had earned an important place in Turkey's social memory through her reporting on labor struggles, human rights and trade-union activism. He also pointed to her contributions to human-rights and civil-society work.
