Elderly Couple Arrested for Stealing Roses from Popular 'Blue Door Roses' Spot

A couple in their 60s has been investigated by police in Suwon, South Korea, for allegedly cutting and stealing roses from a popular local spot known as 'Blue Door Roses.' The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred around midnight on June 24th.

The couple, identified only as Mr. and Ms. A, were seen using pruning shears to cut about ten roses and branches from the wall of a house in Haenggung-dong, Paldal-gu. Although most of the roses had already bloomed and were fading, the pair took the remaining flowers.

When questioned by the police, the couple reportedly stated they acted out of sympathy, claiming they heard the roses were soon to be removed. They expressed regret, stating they "wanted to nurture them well." The location is a well-known photo spot on social media, famous for the vibrant roses that cover the house's facade.

The homeowner discovered the theft after reviewing security footage from the same day and subsequently filed a report with the police. The CCTV footage reportedly shows the couple carefully cutting the roses and placing them into a shopping bag before leaving.
