Elderly Man Arrested for Stabbing Police Officer on Ugljan Island

A domestic violence call on the island of Ugljan escalated dramatically when a 78-year-old man allegedly stabbed a female police officer, leaving her with serious injuries. The incident occurred on July 9 around 6 p.m. at a family home, according to the Zadar Police Department.

During the intervention, the suspect reportedly threatened officers and refused their commands. Police allege he then stabbed the female officer, who was rushed to Zadar General Hospital. She received medical attention and remains hospitalized for treatment of her severe injuries.

Authorities reported that the suspect actively resisted arrest, brandished a knife, and made threats toward the officers. Law enforcement used force to subdue and detain him. He has since been placed in custody and faces charges of attempted murder, threats against officials, and domestic violence.

Police also noted that the suspect has a prior record, having been reported for offenses and misdemeanors in the past. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the suspect now facing serious legal consequences for his alleged actions.
