Elderly Woman Defrauded of Six-Figure Gold by Fake Police Officers

An 88-year-old woman in Bad Schönborn, Germany, fell victim to a scam involving two individuals impersonating police officers, resulting in the theft of gold valued in the six-figure euro range. The incident highlights a disturbing trend of criminals exploiting trust and authority to commit fraud.

The deception began with a phone call to the victim. The caller, posing as a police officer, falsely informed her about a break-in and claimed that her valuables were at risk. He then instructed her that a colleague would visit to photograph the items as a preventative measure against potential theft.

Shortly after, a second individual arrived at the woman's home, identifying himself as another police officer. He proceeded to photograph the woman's gold, which was not jewelry but likely bars or coins. The scammer then directed the victim to her bedroom before allegedly striking her in the face and escaping with the stolen gold. The police are currently searching for the perpetrators.
