Election poll: ‘Topuklu Efe’ Çerçioğlu’s transfer fails to deliver as AKP crashes, trailing by 24 points

Özlem Çerçioğlu’s move to the AKP has not produced the impact the governing party expected in Aydın, according to a poll released one year after the transfer.

The survey shared by pollster and data analyst Murat Kızılboğa showed YENİ Parti, founded by Özgür Özel in July, taking 49% support among voters asked which party they would choose if a general election were held this Sunday. The AKP stood at 24.5%.

The results mark a sharp contrast with the AKP’s 28% share of the Aydın vote in the general election, as presented in the article. Çerçioğlu, the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality mayor known as “Topuklu Efe,” has reportedly lost much of her local support after joining the party.

MHP received 7.2%, İYİ Parti 6.5%, DEM Parti 6.2% and ZP 3%. The CHP was listed at 2.2%, while other parties accounted for 1.4%. The projected parliamentary distribution gave YENİ Parti six seats and the AKP two.
