Electric Bicycle Fire Traps Two in Yuanlin Home; Both Rescued Safely

A fire erupted at noon on July 20 in a four-story residential building on Boru Road in Yuanlin City, Changhua County, an area known as "Mitao Street." The blaze is suspected to have originated from an electric bicycle parked in the building's arcade, quickly engulfing the area in thick smoke that rose rapidly.

Two residents who were on the fourth floor were trapped by the fire and smoke. Firefighters arrived promptly, deploying foam to combat the flames and simultaneously entering the building to conduct a rescue operation. Both individuals were successfully brought out of the building without apparent injuries and were conscious, not requiring hospitalization.

The fire department reported receiving the alarm at 12:03 PM and dispatched 14 fire trucks, 3 ambulances, and 38 personnel. The fire was brought under control by 12:23 PM. Preliminary investigations indicate that a high-end electric bicycle parked in the arcade was destroyed, and a nearby BMW car sustained damage. The precise cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire department officials.

The incident occurred during lunchtime, a busy period for the nearby Mitao noodle shops, drawing the attention of many onlookers. Police cordoned off surrounding intersections and managed traffic to facilitate the rescue efforts. Local social media groups shared information about the fire, urging drivers to take alternative routes.
