Elif Berra Gökkır wins historic silver medal at Archery World Cup

Elif Berra Gökkır has achieved a historic silver medal for Turkey in the recurve women's category at the Archery World Cup held in Madrid. Competing against Czech athlete Marie Horackova in the final, Gökkır was defeated 6-0, securing the second-place finish.

This result also secured Elif Berra Gökkır's participation in the World Cup Finals.

This silver medal is significant as it is the first individual medal for Turkey in this category at the World Cup. The achievement also qualifies Gökkır for the World Cup Finals, a prestigious event featuring the season's top eight archers.

For the first time in the 20-year history of the World Cup, a Turkish woman athlete has qualified for the World Cup Finals by entering the top 8 athletes in the world rankings.

Previously, Turkish women athletes had participated in the World Cup Finals only through the host country quota in 2010 and 2018. Gökkır's performance marks a new milestone, as she is the first Turkish woman to qualify for the finals based on her own rankings from World Cup legs in Mexico, Shanghai, Antalya, and Madrid. She will represent Turkey in the finals scheduled to take place in Mexico.
