Elon Musk claims SpaceX will be making $1 trillion by 2030, following $2 trillion IPO valuation

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, boldly projected on Sunday that his rocket company could achieve $1 trillion in revenue by 2030. This ambitious forecast followed SpaceX's initial public offering on Friday, which valued the company at over $2 trillion and cemented Musk's status as the world's first trillionaire.

However, this projection faces considerable skepticism from financial analysts. Projections from Goldman Sachs suggest SpaceX's revenue might exceed $470 billion in 2030, while Morgan Stanley anticipates it reaching nearly $330 billion. These figures fall significantly short of Musk's trillion-dollar target. Despite its high valuation, SpaceX's financial performance in 2025 revealed a jump in revenue to $18.67 billion from $14.02 billion the previous year, but the company also experienced a substantial swing to a net loss of $4.94 billion from a profit of $791 million.

Musk's journey toward this financial milestone has been intertwined with his acquisition and rebranding of X, formerly Twitter. His purchase of the social media platform for $44 billion in 2022, followed by the launch of the AI model Grok and the creation of xAI, has been a significant part of his recent business strategy. The subsequent merger of xAI with SpaceX, which valued the combined entity at $250 billion, represented a substantial increase in valuation from his initial investment in Twitter.
