Embattled MP Moira Deeming resigns from Victorian Liberal Party

Moira Deeming has resigned from the parliamentary Liberal Party, ending a period of significant friction within the Victorian political landscape. The Member for Western Metropolitan Region announced her departure via social media, stating she would now sit with the crossbench as an independent MP.

Deeming's resignation comes after the Liberal Party revoked her candidacy for the upcoming November state election. This move followed her controversial allegations that her partyroom colleague Matthew Guy had assaulted her at a community event in May. Police reviewed CCTV footage of the incident and determined that no offense was detected.
