Ender Echenique's coach calls his performance against Orlando City 'exceptional'

Ender Echenique's performance against Orlando City in Major League Soccer drew high praise from his coach, Patrick Noonan, who described the Venezuelan player's contribution as "exceptional." Echenique played the entire match in the 1-1 draw on August 15th at Inter&Co Stadium, playing a key role in Cincinnati's sole goal.

Noonan highlighted Echenique's offensive impact, noting his decisive run down the right flank that led to Pavel Bucha's goal, even if it wasn't a direct assist. The coach explained that the game's open nature allowed Echenique to exploit space, stating, "In that, he is a great asset."

Despite the accolades, Noonan also pointed out areas where Echenique could improve. He acknowledged that the demanding back-and-forth nature of the game seemed to take a toll, particularly in his ability to recover defensively and contribute without the ball. "Having an open game also presents something to the player: can you recover and help us defend without the ball? (...) That took its toll on him," Noonan explained.

Overall, Noonan affirmed that Echenique "got it right many times" during the match and still possessed the "legs and the change of speed to go forward." Echenique's current stats for the season include one goal and five assists, with additional assists in the Concachampions and Leagues Cup. FC Cincinnati currently sits sixth in the Western Conference standings, on track for a direct playoff spot.
