England defender Chalobah joins Como from Chelsea

Italian club Como has secured the signing of England defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, agreeing to a five-year contract. The Serie A side announced the transfer on Sunday, marking a significant addition to their squad.

While official financial terms remain undisclosed, British media reports indicate that Como paid an estimated 30 million euros, with potential add-ons, for the England international. Chalobah expressed his eagerness to join the team, stating, "I can't wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. The 27-year-old defender departs Chelsea after featuring in 47 matches across all competitions last season, contributing three goals and one assist. His move follows Chelsea's acquisition of defender Maxence Lacroix. Chalobah, a product of Chelsea's academy, previously had loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, Lorient, and Crystal Palace before establishing himself in the first team.

Chalobah was part of England's squad at the World Cup this year, playing in the third-place playoff match. He now joins a Como team that has seen considerable transformation under coach Cesc Fabregas. The club, promoted to Serie A two years ago, achieved Champions League qualification for the first time in its history last season.
