Ennasr 2: A construction site stalled for two and a half years becomes a threat to residents

A stalled construction project in the Ennasr 2 neighborhood of Ariana has become a significant public safety hazard, remaining in limbo for two and a half years. The site, characterized by unstable cranes, dangling cables, and debris, poses a direct threat to pedestrians. Compounding the danger, children have been observed entering the unsecured building, which is adjacent to a primary school and a busy road.

Residents have voiced growing concerns over the perilous state of the construction site. Abdelhamid Thabet, president of the Association citoyenneté à Riad Ennasr, highlighted the lack of adequate public protection and urged for immediate security measures around the site while its legal status is resolved. He emphasized that the situation can no longer be delayed.

Testimonies from the area reveal concrete risks. Several residents have reported children accessing the building, particularly the dangerous basements. Sadok Boukhris, a guardian at the neighboring private school, confirmed the high probability of students entering the premises, stressing the urgent need for site security to prevent intrusions.

Adding to the peril, day guard Youssef Amamri reported witnessing children entering the building multiple times. The site's security personnel have also reportedly faced salary delays. The dangers are not hypothetical; Moncef Amri, a local resident, stated that vehicles have been damaged by falling metal structures during storms. He warned that the risk of a crane or materials falling on passersby is imminent due to the complete absence of protective barriers along the road.

In response to mounting pressure, a local official assured that coordination among relevant services would occur to implement necessary measures promptly. Residents, who have filed numerous complaints, are now awaiting concrete actions to avert a potential tragedy.
