Enner Valencia nears Boca Juniors move as club accelerates transfer process

Boca Juniors is set to sign veteran forward Enner Valencia, with the 36-year-old Ecuadorian expected to arrive and undergo medical checks on Friday. Valencia will become the club's fourth official signing of the transfer window, bolstering their attacking options.

Valencia joins Boca after an inconsistent spell with Pachuca in Mexico. Despite facing challenges with playing time due to injuries and technical decisions, he managed to score eight goals in 22 appearances last season, frequently coming off the bench. His experience and goal-scoring record are seen as valuable assets for the Argentine club.

The urgency to secure Valencia's signature intensified following the injury to Adam Bareiro, which left Boca with only one fit center-forward, Milton Giménez. Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena prioritized acquiring a striker, even over a central defender, to address the team's immediate needs. Valencia is expected to sign a one-year contract with an option for a further season, providing depth for Boca's commitments in the Torneo Clausura, Copa Argentina, and Copa Sudamericana.
