Eno’s aide hails Oron jetty investment in A’Íbom

Charles Udoh, the Akwa Ibom State Governor's Delivery Advisor on Hospitality Infrastructure, praised the ongoing redevelopment of the Oron Marine Jetty and the launch of luxury ferry services. He believes these initiatives will significantly stimulate tourism and attract new investments by enhancing connectivity across air, land, and sea routes.

Udoh explained that the project is a cornerstone of Governor Umo Eno's strategy to position Akwa Ibom as a premier tourism and transportation hub. The state has acquired two luxury ferries for the Oron-Calabar route, each equipped with modern amenities and capable of carrying vehicles. These ferries are expected to improve passenger comfort and drastically cut travel time between Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

Tourism thrives where air, land and sea transportation systems work efficiently, and Governor Umo Eno is deliberately strengthening all three.

Beyond the ferry service, the Oron project encompasses a broader marine infrastructure program. This includes constructing a modern jetty, a fish processing plant, and an integrated tourism hub at Oron Beach. These facilities are anticipated to revitalize commercial marine activities in the coastal city and generate new business opportunities in tourism, fisheries, hospitality, and transportation sectors.

Udoh emphasized that Governor Eno is committed to strengthening all three transportation systems, air, land, and sea, to foster tourism. With international flights already operating at Victor Attah International Airport, the state's tourism potential is further amplified. The Oron waterfront project aims not only to improve inter-coastal state connectivity but also to establish Oron as a prime destination for leisure, business, and maritime activities, ultimately building a sustainable tourism economy that creates jobs and boosts revenue.
