EPL: Chelsea signs Morgan Rogers for record 232 billion won transfer fee

Chelsea has secured the signing of midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported British record transfer fee of 117 million pounds, approximately 232 billion won. The 23-year-old has committed to a contract with the London club until 2033.

This transfer eclipses Chelsea's previous record signing, Moises Caicedo, who joined for 115 million pounds in 2023. The fee for Rogers surpasses the 116 million pounds Manchester City paid for Matheus Nunes earlier this month, establishing a new benchmark for British football transfers.

Rogers, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, joined Aston Villa in 2024. He scored 31 goals in 125 appearances for the club. In the 2025-2026 season, he contributed significantly with 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 official matches, playing a role in Aston Villa's UEFA Europa League triumph.

He also represented England in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, featuring in seven of the eight matches and helping the team secure third place. Rogers expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "Chelsea is the best club in London, a team I've admired since I was young." He added, "I decided to move after seeing the club's philosophy. I'm eager to start this new challenge with the new club."
