EPL: Fulham hold talks with Arbeloa over manager’s job

Silva recently left Craven Cottage after a five-year spell to take charge of Benfica, concluding a period that saw Fulham establish themselves as a stable Premier League side, finishing 11th last season.

According to reports, Arbeloa has emerged as a significant candidate for the managerial role. While discussions are said to be in their early stages, Fulham's recruitment team reportedly admires his coaching development within Real Madrid's system. Arbeloa progressed through the club's youth ranks before taking on an interim role with the senior team last season.

During his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, Arbeloa worked across various coaching levels and briefly managed the first team on an interim basis. His experience also includes being part of the club's youth setup. His potential elevation occurred during a transitional period at Real Madrid, which also involved other high-profile coaching figures.

Arbeloa's playing career, which included stints in the Premier League with Liverpool F.C. and West Ham United F.C., is considered a potential asset, offering familiarity with English football. Fulham had also explored other candidates, such as former Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, but contractual issues complicated his availability before he decided to take a break from management.
