EPL: Marmoush joins Spurs on loan from Man City

Tottenham Hotspur is set to bolster its attacking options with the acquisition of Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan, a deal that includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer. The 27-year-old Egyptian international joins Spurs after a challenging spell at the Etihad Stadium, where he found regular playing time elusive.

Marmoush arrived at Manchester City in January 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported £59 million, following an impressive stint in the Bundesliga. However, he often played second fiddle to Erling Haaland and struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter. His Premier League involvement significantly decreased during the 2025-26 season, with only eight starts and around 700 minutes played, contributing three goals and three assists. He was an unused substitute in City's Premier League opener and a second-half substitute in their Community Shield defeat.

This move to Tottenham presents Marmoush with a crucial opportunity to revive his career and secure more consistent first-team football. Manager Roberto De Zerbi is expected to value Marmoush's versatility, as he can operate as a centre-forward, a second striker, or from the left wing. This flexibility could prove particularly beneficial for Spurs, especially given injury concerns for Dominic Solanke and the impending contract expiry of Richarlison.

Marmoush's ability to drop deep, change positions, and exploit spaces created by defenders could be a significant asset. Tottenham has already invested heavily in the current transfer window, exceeding £312 million. The signing of Marmoush, with a potential permanent fee of £60 million, would represent another substantial addition as the club aims to strengthen its squad and attacking capabilities.
