Equality Commissioner Opens Competition for Annual Media Award

Serbia’s Commissioner for the Protection of Equality is seeking media work that challenges discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes against minority, marginalized and vulnerable groups.

The annual competition is open to journalists from registered local and national print and electronic media across Serbia. Eligible entries include work published from Oct. 1, 2025, through Oct. 1, 2026.

The commissioner will give six awards in two categories: radio, television or video reports, and printed or online articles. Journalists must submit one piece, a short biography and contact details by email no later than Oct. 15.

Several journalists from the same media organization may enter, but each may submit only one work. Journalists who won an award during either of the previous two years cannot take part this year.

The institution said the competition aims to promote equality and tolerance in the media while increasing the visibility of the commissioner’s work. The winning authors will be announced at the institution’s annual International Day of Tolerance conference on Nov. 16, and through its website and social media channels.
