Estación Central inaugurates Chile's first municipal dog grooming salon

The municipality of Estación Central in Chile has unveiled the nation's first municipal dog grooming salon, a pioneering service designed to make pet hygiene care more accessible and provide free attention to rescued animals.

This initiative is part of the municipality's broader animal welfare agenda, which already includes a municipal veterinary clinic, an animal protection office, a mobile rescue unit, and an ordinance on responsible pet ownership. Mayor Felipe Muñoz emphasized that the goal is to support families and acknowledge pets as integral members of their homes.

The new salon will offer washing and grooming services at approximately half the usual market price. Priority will be given to senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and their caregivers. Additionally, stray animals rescued by the municipality will receive free grooming to improve their condition before adoption.

During the inauguration, the grooming team demonstrated their skills, and a "Fashion Dog" contest was held, awarding prizes in categories such as Originality, Super Duo, Elegance, and Hidden Talent. The salon will operate Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, requiring advance booking at Las Catalpas Poniente 198. Services are exclusively for Estación Central residents who can prove their residency and present their pet's current vaccination record, along with meeting other municipal requirements.
