Estonia's 1st Infantry Brigade to host Family Day for reservists and their loved ones

The 1st Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Defence Forces is set to host its annual "Brigade Family Day" on August 20th, coinciding with Estonia's Day of Restoration of Independence. The event will take place simultaneously at the brigade's barracks in Tapa and Jõhvi.

This special day is dedicated to honoring the thousands of individuals who form the brigade's strength: active-duty soldiers, civilian employees, and, most importantly, the reservists. Brigade Sergeant Major Ivo Petjärv emphasized that all members, regardless of their position, demonstrate a commitment to defending the country through their daily service, participation in reserve training, and contributions to unit development.

The brigade team includes thousands of people, among whom are active-duty soldiers, employees, and our main force – reservists. They all, regardless of their position and job title, show their readiness and willingness to defend the country – in their daily service, participating in reserve training and exercises, and contributing with advice and effort to the development of units.

Petjärv highlighted that such dedication is only possible with the support of families. Therefore, the Brigade Family Day serves as a token of gratitude to both the reservists and the loved ones of all brigade members for their invaluable contributions. The event is designed to foster a sense of community and appreciation within the brigade's extended family.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants at both Tapa and Jõhvi barracks will have the opportunity to experience daily life within the military installations. They can get acquainted with the equipment and weaponry used by the units and engage in various competitions. Reservists who are part of the 1st Infantry Brigade's wartime structure are requested to confirm their participation by August 13th.
