Estonia U20 team defeats Kosovo in close European Championship match

The Estonian U20 handball team secured a hard-fought victory against Kosovo at the European Championship. The match began with a strong start for Estonia, leading 5-0 within the first five minutes. However, Kosovo gradually regrouped, turning the game into a tight contest.

Estonia maintained their lead through the first half, ending it with a score of 16-14. In the final ten minutes, the young Estonian players found renewed energy and determination, ultimately sealing a decisive win. Goalkeeper Mikk Kaspar Piirsalu reflected on the team's performance, noting an initial strong start that faltered after the first setback. "After recovering from the setback, we started to gradually regain the lead. In the last five minutes, we were quite sure that the victory would be ours," Piirsalu said after the game.

Several players contributed significantly to the scoreline: Markus Leidsaar scored 7 goals, Andre Ansip 6, Karlis Kalk 5, Martin Lepik 4, and Oskar Luks and Martin Kikkas each scored 3. Jaan Pirk, Johannes Pertelson, and Jasper Arnover each added one goal. Oskar Luks was named the best Estonian player of the match. For Kosovo, Olsi Mulaj was the top scorer with 9 goals, followed by Suad Pajaziti with 8.

With this win, Estonia currently holds third place in the standings, trailing behind the Netherlands and Italy.
