Estonian team starts European League with tough 3-0 win over Slovakia

Estonia's men's volleyball team began their European League campaign with a hard-fought 3-0 victory over Slovakia on Friday evening. While the scoreline suggests a comfortable win, the match proved to be a tense affair, with Slovakia pushing Estonia to the limit in each set.

The first set saw a tight battle, with both teams exchanging points. Estonia eventually secured it 26-24 after a dramatic finish. The second set was similarly close, with Slovakia leading early on. Estonia managed to pull ahead, but the set remained a point-for-point struggle, ultimately ending 28-26 in favor of the Estonian side.

In the third set, Estonia found themselves trailing significantly, facing a 6-10 deficit at one point. However, they mounted a comeback, leveling the score and eventually taking the lead. Despite a prolonged rally and some missed opportunities, Estonia closed out the set 25-22, sealing the 3-0 match victory.

Märt Tammearu was the standout performer for Estonia, scoring 17 points. Robert Täht contributed 14 points, and Renee Teppan added 13 points to the team's total. Estonia's reception and attack efficiency both stood at 53%, with the team managing 5 blocks and 4 service aces, though they also committed 19 service errors.
