Estonian team wins all four jerseys at Baltic Tour cycling race

Estonian cyclist Lauri Tamm clinched the 2026 Baltic Tour overall victory, capping a dominant performance by the Estonian national team, which secured all four classification jerseys. The final 147.5-kilometer stage, winding through the hilly terrain of Southern Estonia, was won by Mārtiņš Pluto of Energus Cycling Team in a solo breakaway.

Tamm began the final day in the leader's yellow jersey, holding a slim seven-second advantage over his teammate Norman Vahtra. Magnus Machholdt was the only non-Estonian rider in the top three, seven seconds behind Tamm. The stage was characterized by aggressive racing from the outset, with numerous early attacks. Eventually, a 13-rider breakaway group formed and established a lead of over a minute.

Within the breakaway, Romet Pajur was particularly active, winning all three intermediate sprints. However, the peloton, led by ATT Investments and the Estonian team, gradually closed the gap. Despite the pressure, Pluto managed to stay clear, holding off the chasing pack to claim a solo victory on the stage. Norman Vahtra finished fourth, securing the team's overall success.

Pluto expressed his belief in his chances of winning as he approached the finish line. "I started to believe I could win about two kilometers before the finish," he said after the race. The peloton was preparing for a sprint finish when a crash occurred in the final turns, allowing Pluto to cross the line unchallenged, completing a successful campaign for Energus Cycling Team.
