Etihad Rail passenger service launch poised to transform Fujairah tourism

The launch of Etihad Rail's inaugural passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah marks a significant development for tourism in the United Arab Emirates. This new rail link promises faster and more convenient travel to Fujairah, a region known for its scenic beauty.

Tourism officials are optimistic that the service will enhance Fujairah's appeal for weekend getaways and short domestic trips. They expect this increased accessibility to stimulate growth in various tourism-related businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Saeed Abdullah Al Samahi, Director of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities in Fujairah, called the opening of the station a "strategic milestone."

Al Samahi believes that easier access will lead to higher hotel occupancy rates and bolster the hospitality, entertainment, and retail sectors. This will provide more visitors with the opportunity to explore Fujairah's diverse offerings, from its mountains and beaches to its heritage sites and cultural attractions.

The excitement was palpable at the Fujairah station, where residents gathered to witness the initial passenger journeys. Many captured the moment on their phones, celebrating what they viewed as a historic step toward making the emirate more connected and accessible than ever before. The train journey between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah takes approximately 105 minutes, with trains reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h and accommodating up to 400 passengers.
