EU Approves Billion-Euro Arms Package for Ukraine

On Ukraine's Independence Day, the European Union announced a significant new military aid package worth 6.1 billion euros. This substantial assistance is earmarked for critical defense capabilities, including air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition, to bolster Ukraine's ongoing efforts to repel the Russian invasion.

The newly approved funds are integrated into a broader support loan totaling up to 90 billion euros. This comprehensive financial package is designed to ensure Ukraine can sustain its defense campaign and avert a state bankruptcy. The EU Commission stated that the aid is particularly timely, given the recent escalation of Russian attacks, which included 376 missile strikes in July alone.
