EU prosecutor's office conducts searches in multiple countries over suspected misuse of funds

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) has initiated searches across several European nations as part of an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of EU funds. The probe specifically targets the Identity and Democracy (ID) group, a political alliance that includes several right-wing parties.

According to reports, the searches are underway in France, Spain, Italy, and Belgium. The investigation focuses on potential embezzlement of EU funds linked to the ID group's activities between 2019 and 2024. France's National Rally (RN) party, a prominent member of the ID group during this period, is directly implicated.

Jordan Bardella, the president of the RN, confirmed that searches had been carried out since Tuesday morning. These operations involved both offices and private residences of "communication providers" that have worked with the party. Bardella's statement on X indicated that these actions were part of the EPPO's investigation.
