European Aquatics Championships: French diver Gary Hunt wins bronze facing the Eiffel Tower

Gary Hunt, a celebrated figure in high diving, has captured a bronze medal at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. The 42-year-old Frenchman secured the 20m high diving event's third place with a score of 382.50 points. This marks his first continental medal of his career.

Hunt, who previously represented Great Britain until 2020, is renowned for his two world championship titles in 2015 and 2019. Despite being in fifth place at the halfway mark, he delivered a high-caliber final dive to secure his spot on the podium. He finished behind gold medalist Catalin Petru Preda of Romania and silver medalist Andrea Barnaba of Italy.

The competition took place on a platform 20 meters above the Seine, with the iconic Eiffel Tower providing a stunning backdrop. The event is part of France's successful showing at the championships, with Hunt's bronze being the nation's fourth medal of the week.
