Evelyn Oyome Retains Ikoyi Club Ladies Championship Title

The Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section recently hosted its prestigious annual Ladies Championship, a highlight of the golfing calendar that not only crowns the best female golfer within the club but also champions the core values of friendship, integrity, and community engagement. This year, the event saw the remarkable Evelyn Oyome retain her Overall Gross Winner title, carding an impressive 170 over two days.

Today and tomorrow represent our ladies’ championship. The championship occurs once in a year. More or less, we’re trying to see who is the best lady golfer amongst us.

Lady Captain Annie Eimiakhena underscored the tournament's significance, describing it as a platform to foster unity and camaraderie among lady golfers. She highlighted that the club's theme for the year, “Enjoy Golf, Impact Lives,” encourages participants to extend their positive influence beyond the greens, making a meaningful impact in their communities and supporting those who work in the sport.

I would like to pass a message of unity. I would like to pass on a message of friendship. I would like to pass on a message of integrity. The golf game is one of integrity. It’s one of camaraderie.

I just love it and when I started playing, I made sure I played with the men and with the professionals. I got enlightened with them and I was focused.
